outdoor landscape and pool lighting

Each landscape lighting project is unique to each individual home and customer. That is why we meet one on one with each customer to determine the proper effects that we want to achieve. We ask the questions, Are we lighting for safety and security? To enhance the curb appeal of the home? Or to set a mood and enhance the beauty of the landscaping? Often, the answer is "yes" to all of the questions above. We can use specific landscape lighting techniques such as accent lighting, path lighting, LED lighting, specialty lighting and garden lighting.

In the initial meeting, we walk the home with the customer to get an idea of what they want to achieve with the landscape lighting as well as share our ideas of what we would like to see. We determine our focal points and the mood that we are trying to set. In considering the proposed landscape lighting, we focus on setting off the home as well as the natural beauty of the landscaping. At this time, we choose the fixtures and lamps based on the effects that we are trying to produce.

One of the most common mistakes in our industry is when people "overlight" and try to light up everything on and around the home. We employ the philosophy, "You don't need a lot to achieve a lot". We use soft subtle light to bring out features such as paths, plants and textures and use brighter lights to bring out the focal points of where we want the eyes to move.

"You don't need a lot to achieve a lot".

Once we discuss and agree on a plan of action, the Design Consultant will start to develop the landscape lighting proposal. We will break down each section of the home we are trying to light; i.e., Front Yard, Court Yard, Side Yard, Back Yard, Deck etc. Each section will have a detailed breakdown of products along with the cost of each product. Work will begin approximately 7-10 days after customer approves the proposal.

An Installation Manager is then assigned to the landscape lighting project. The designer that met with the customer originally will be onsite to place fixtures and to go over the design layout with the Installation Manager to make sure that the installation is consistent with the original design.

The first step of the installation is to install underground conduit for the 120V landscape lighting system and direct burial wire for the 12V low voltage landscape lighting system according to local and national code. No work is sub-contracted and cable is dug by hand. The landscape lighting equipment is then installed on the ground and in trees. The lights are tested and a thorough walkthrough is performed by the Installation Manager.

Once all of the landscape lighting equipment is installed and the fixtures are set, a nighttime adjustment is scheduled with the homeowner and the lighting is presented to them for approval. For the next 2-5 days, the homeowner "lives with" the landscape lighting and critiques it without the designer present so that they can have their suggestions ready for the final walkthrough. After the 2-5 day period, the designer will then meet with the customer in the evening to do the final walkthrough. Any adjustments are done then, ensuring that the customer is 100% satisfied with the work performed.
